the table of contents)

dialog in EnterAct.)
§ Synonyms and homonyms
§ Synonyms and homonyms
EnterAct keeps a table of common synonyms and homonyms in its 'TEXT' 1000
resource. When you attempt to look up the definition of a term by
pressing the <Enter> key and no exact match is found in your dictionary,
one of the first things done is to consult this list for possible
substitutions that might produce an exact match. For example if you
typed "AllocMemory" but really meant "AllocateMemory" Enteract would
still show you the right definition, since substituting "Allocate"
for "Alloc" from the TEXT 1000 table would produce the name in your
dictionary.
If you suffer from chronic synonym or homonym substitution, you might
want to try entering your commonest substitution pairs in EnterAct's
TEXT 1000 resource--then pressing <Enter> will give you much more
accurate lookup for those cases.
Here's a bit of 'TEXT' 1000 from the start to give you the flavour:
1 Ind
1 One
2 Two
A Alert
Acc Accessory
Accessory Acc
Add Plus
Alert A
Alert Alrt
Alloc Allocate
Allocate Alloc
Allocate Create
Allocate Init
Allocate Make
Allocate Reserve
Alrt Alert
...
The entries must be in alphabetical order, and each synonym or homonym pair
is entered twice as you can see above. Each line begins with a name fragment
that might be present in your source, followed by a tab, then an alternate
name to try, and finally a return.
If you do add to the TEXT 1000 resource, please remember that you did so when
you grab the next update for EnterAct. The default resource shipped with EnterAct
will not change significantly, but it won't have your additions in it!
